Mexico is unusual among countries in that it issued circulating silver coinage right up until the end of the 1960's. They experienced coinage reforms during the 20th century, the first of which happened in 1905 when the United States of Mexico was formed out of the Mexican replublic. Mexican silver comes in varying degrees of fineness from the 0.999 fineness of the bullion onza coins, to the 0.9030 or 0.9027 fineness of the early peso coins, down to the billon fineness of 0.100 for later silver pesos. Please note that when different coins of the same year but different compositions were minted that we've tried to identify them by either mint or by coin mass. Be careful when using the calculator to make sure you've selected the correct coin! Just enter the numbers of each coin that you have and the total amount of silver and the silver value will be automatically displayed!
