Australia has a long history of coin collecting magazines and periodicals. Most of the coin clubs and societies around Australia have produced regular newsletters and journals, some dating back more than one hundred years. Commercially available coin magazines in the last 60 years have been restricted to The Australian Coin Review (or ACR) which was first published in 1964 and ran continuously until December 2001. In 2002 it was bought by rival publication Australasian Coin and Banknote Magazine, or as it is better known, CAB. CAB was first published in November 1996 and is still published 11 times a year and edited by John Mulhall. In February 2002 it acquired competitor, ACR and this heritage is still acknowledged on the front of every CAB magazine by the sub header Incorporating Australian Coin Review.
We have begun a lengthy project to make the table of contents of every issue of ACR and CAB available on this site. This is no small task, with about 440 issues of The Australian Coin Review published and CAB releasing 11 or 12 issues a year from 1996 until today. So with something north of 650 magazines to go through you’ll have to be patient as we build up, what we hope is, a useful Australian numismatic resource.
